**8-Year-Old Girl Turns Heads in Gujarat by Choosing Monkhood Over Luxury**

In a surprising turn of events, an 8-year-old girl in Gujarat has captured the attention of her community by choosing to leave behind a life of luxury and become a monk. Devanshi Sanghvi, the daughter of a wealthy business tycoon in Surat, Gujarat, recently took ‘diksha’ in the presence of a prominent Jain monk, Acharya Vijay Kirtiyashsuri.

Despite being the daughter of a prominent diamond merchant, Dhanesh Sanghvi, Devanshi has decided to renounce her materialistic lifestyle and dedicate her life to monkhood. Her family held a grand procession to commemorate her decision, which included elephants, horses, camels, and a long entourage of Jain devotees.

What makes Devanshi’s decision even more remarkable is the fact that she has never watched television shows or films, visited restaurants, or indulged in any luxuries that children her age typically enjoy. Raised in a humble manner by her parents who followed the simple lifestyle prescribed by Jainism, Devanshi has been following the customs and practices of her religion from a young age.

At just 2 years old, Devanshi began fasting and expressed her desire to become a monk. She participated in numerous Jain initiation events and walked over 600 km with other monks to prove her dedication. Her recent diksha ceremony was marked by a grand procession that included elephants, horses, and camels, attracting a large number of Jain practitioners.

Devanshi’s decision to embrace monkhood at such a young age has left many in awe and admiration. Despite having the privilege to live a life of luxury, she has chosen a path of simplicity and spiritual devotion. Her story serves as a reminder of the power of faith and determination, even in the face of societal expectations and material temptations.
