US News: FBI Probing Businessman’s Relationship with Sen. Bob Menendez
The FBI is currently investigating New Jersey businessman Wael Hana for allegedly providing lavish gifts to Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ) and his wife, Nadine Arslanian. Hana, who was struggling financially in 2018, saw a remarkable change in fortune after Arslanian started dating Menendez. Within months, Hana moved into a luxurious apartment and gained a monopoly on importing halal meat to Egypt.
The investigation is the second FBI probe into Menendez, who was previously indicted in 2015 for accepting bribes from a doctor in exchange for favors. The current investigation focuses on whether Menendez and Arslanian received gifts such as a vehicle and a Washington, DC, apartment from Hana or his company, IS EG Halal.
Arslanian, who was facing foreclosure before meeting Menendez, has also seen a significant improvement in her financial situation, including selling up to $400,000 in gold bars in 2022. Menendez’s spokeswoman declined to comment on the investigation but expressed confidence that the matter will be resolved.
Hana’s newfound wealth and connections have raised suspicions, with the FBI searching his offices and apartment in 2019 and seizing multiple items, including cash, jewelry, and electronics. Despite the scrutiny, Hana maintains that the gifts to Menendez and his wife are baseless allegations.
The investigation into Hana’s relationship with Menendez and Arslanian has shed light on the complex web of connections and financial dealings involving the senator and his associates.
